A letter

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:53 PM

I sat on my usually park bench by the ball park. To day, started just like any fall day, but this day was going to change my life. Autumn had started to give the leaves the magic of color, with its red’s, brown’s and gold.

I noticed a piece of paper being blown about with the leaves; it seemed to have a sense of direction. It lay at my feet and although the wind still blew, the piece of paper which was crumbled and wet did not move. I leant down to pick it up, and as I touched it, it became clean and unwrinkled. It was simply titled “A Letter.” I find it hard to remember what was written on it, although it has only been a couple of hours since I read it.

It started with something like this. “Hi it is not often that I write to one like yourself, because the people of the world are always saying the heavens are closed. But, I have watched your life with interest, how you have never denied me, regardless of your circumstance. How you have always tried to look for the best in all people, and I notice your sadness on hearing that you have terminal cancer, and at best only six months left in mortality.”

I then recalled the last twelve months, our son had died in the war, and then three months ago my wife had died and now I had been told I have terminal cancer. I returned to the letter and read on.

“Do you really feel that life has cheated you? You never did get that big house, or that car, and I know you always wanted a boat so that you could sail through the San Juan Islands. I heard you say many times that some people come into the world and never seem to have any major worries. This may seem to be true, but all my children have their stories.”

I realized then that I was crying, my heart felt as if it would break. I continued reading.

“I love you so much, over the years, I have watched you grow and learn, just as I watch all my children. I have watched you fall away from me, how you have shut up in your heart eternal truth. Now you must release these truths if you are to live.”

Suddenly a large plastic ball, hit my feet and a little girl was standing there. She looked at me and asked “Why are you crying.” She then turned and asked “who are that lady and man standing by me?” Her mother came and apologized for her. I said it was fine. The little girl then said “That the lady told her that I was no longer sick.”

The mother again apologized. I felt a prompting of the spirit in my heart. I took out my wallet and showed her a picture of my wife and son. She said that they had been standing next to me but now they had gone. The woman said something to the little girl as they walked away.

I then turned to the letter and read the last sentence. It said” Have the faith of a little child and all things are possible.” Strange the letter was not signed and as I tried to fold it, it was taken from my grasp by the wind; it soared in the air and was gone.

The Doctor smiled, a beautiful story, “look I don’t know what has happened. I only no that two weeks ago you had terminal cancer, and now there’s no trace of cancer in your body.” I left the Doctor’s office with a spring in my step and a smile on my face. I thought I heard my name called on the wind. I love you, never be afraid, and remember in the world of miracles; common sense and intellect have no place.

A Personal Testimony

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:44 PM

My college Professor asked where did I get the old roman coin,

I never looked at without remembering,

the tears that were shed that day.

We followed from a distance, as our Lord carried his cross,

What had he done that could warrant such a punishment,

as being nailed to a cross.

We reached the hill that looks down on Jerusalem!

Roman soldiers were pushing the people back.

“Make way, Make way” was their cry,

No one dared stop them.

One soldier looked at me, “What strange dress is this.”

His face was kind, he placed a small roman coin in my hand.

Then the sounds of the hammer, driving home the nails:

I moved forward to stop them, the same

Roman soldier held me.

“You can do no good here, go home.” and then he added

“Tell the world what you have seen and heard this day.”

I turned and looked at the Lord’s face,

He seemed to say, ”I love you, never be afraid.”

I watched as the soldiers gambled for his coat,

Such blackness at noon day,

Fist the wind, then the rain, then the thunder

and the lighting ripped across the sky.

“He’s dead,” came the call from the Roman soldier.

And then I realized I was crying

Suddenly, I was awake, my pillow was wet with my tears,

But my heart was light,

I thought I heard a voice, “I love you, never be afraid.”

I looked into my hand and their I saw a small roman coin,

Then I realized I had been given a gift,

A special gift, “Yes the Lord had lived and had died,

for me and all humankind.”

The Olive Branch

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:43 PM

The small olive branch was suspended for all time and eternity

Within the confines of the small clear crystal paper weight.

I looked out the window and let my mind

recall the night I was given this branch.

How many times had I cried as I asked the question;

Had the Lord suffered and died for me and all humankind.

It was with this thought in mind that I fell asleep,

I heard voices, I looked into the early evening darkness

The evening was warm and I smelt spices in the air.

I noticed the lone figure of a man on his knees.

As I moved closer to the man, he turned and looked at me.

Then I was surrounded by eleven men.

The man arose from his knees and looked into my eyes.

He smiled and motioned me to approach him.

As I did so he embraced me,

My body seemed to melt into his with the warmth of his love.

I stepped back and looked at him and the others;

One asked “Yeshua, who is this man.” He held up his hand,

His voice was gentle yet strong, “One like you,”

The he looked at me again and said,

I have lived and suffered, Tomorrow I will die.”

“I do this, so all may live.”

He smiled and placed in my hand a small branch from the olive tree.

I tried to speak but blackness enveloped me.

I awoke and wondered about the dream, I looked....

Into my hand and their was a small olive branch

that I had been given.

My Grandchildren looked a me, “the eldest spoke.

“You were in the garden with the Lord;”

I smiled and we looked at the small clear crystal paper weight.

Then my Grandchildren asked me once more ‘

“Tell them the story.”

Yourself

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:42 PM

A sense of direction and purpose needs to be instilled in

Our hearts as we rush along Life’s highway.

Where is it we are going,

We need to take time to reflect on the road

that we have chosen to travel.

This reflection is the key to self-discovery.

The art of living life to it’s fullest is to be a peace

with oneself and all humankind.

We must learn how to be still and silent, then we can begin

the search for that spiritual tranquility

 that lies within our soul.

Life will teach us much if we are attentive,

When we have obtained this rest and peace within our heart.

If we have learnt it well!

Our Heavenly Father may call us to help other’s along life’s highway.

Watch carefully all people, for you may notice how

a great many people live, hoping and praying for

a better tomorrow, whilst they have forgotten to live for today!

Learn this lesson well, today was given for all to use

with care and thought. For it is a great gift,

but once used, it can never be retrieved.

It has passed forever from our grasp, much

like the fine sand that slipped through our fingers

when we played on the beach as a child.

Be gracious with your neighbor for we all children

Of a loving heavenly Father.

Keep peace in your soul as you mix with all humanity,

Be a good listener for all people have their story.

If you listen with a pure heart who knows what you may learn.

Do not judge, just be friend, live each day with care

and share with all the greatest gift that you have

Yourself.

Courage

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:39 PM

It doesn’t courage to be a dreamer,

but it does take courage to turn dreams into reality.

Our minds are wondrous places,

There are no restrictions only

the simple joy of dreams and imagining!

When we underestimate the power our dreams and imagination,

We will never attempt to bring our ideas and dreams to reality.

Rather we will live our life in a comfort zone,

Were no can hurt or make afraid.

We must accept the challenge that life offers,

And in accepting, so we learn to understand that

Each and everyone have special talents;

We each have been given a great gift,

It is called Today.

Only when we develop a burning heat of passion within our souls,

Will we use this great gift.

Then! Will we grow to new heights and enter the

unexplored waters of our life.

To discover our true self takes great courage,

We have to pass through the refining fires of life trails;

How else will we find the gold of our soul.

Remember the power of your dreams.

These can cause a spark that ignite the power of your imagination!

You may cheer and sometimes you will cry;

As you walk through the valley of laughter and tears.

Allow our Heavenly Father through his son

Jesus Christ to show his love for you.

Allow him to carry you into the spiritual tranquility of your soul.

As he walks with you along these inner pathways,

You will learn to release the pains and sins of the past.

These are the pains and sins that have

Entrapped your ability to grow, learn and live for today.

His peace and forgiveness is waiting for you,

Waiting for the day, when you will reach for it.

Feel and hear the wind blowing through the trees.

Hear the quite waters of the gentle flowing stream..

It says be still my child, look and learn,

This tranquility sees no pain, no tears, no death.

Demands no future, but offers the truth and joy of today.

Embrace this truth and joy, within your soul,

Then you will be able to see the good that each day offers.

When you realize this; then you will be able to

carry others along the pathways of life.

And in doing so............so you will realize

The worth of a soul in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.

Time

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:36 PM

As children of God the Eternal Father,

We are given in various amounts the greatest of gifts;

We are told “to everything there is a season,

a time to every purpose under heaven”.

We may squander this..... the most precious of all gifts,

Or we may invest in our future.

This is our choice.

In the calendar of life, there are two days

over which we have no control;

These are two days over which we should not worry.

And which should be keep free from remorse, fear or apprehension.

One is yesterday, it is history, with all of it’s joys and faults.

We cannot undo one single act or thought.

The other day, is tomorrow, it is as yet a mystery,

It may hold great promise or unheard of burdens,

But it will come, the sun will rise..........

Whether in the beauty of a glorious sunrise,

Or behind a dark and cloudy sky.

Tomorrow is yet unborn.

Remorse for something we did yesterday or the fear of tomorrow,

These are two eternities that place within our minds

Untold misery, fear and remorse.

Look around and you will notice how a great many people

Pray for a better tomorrow when they have forgotten

That they need to live for today!

Today is a great gift that’s why it is called.

“The Present”

A New Life

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:34 PM

Like a new born child that grows within the safety of a mother womb.

So it is that the embryo of a new life

with God will grow within your heart.

As read and study the scriptures and accept this new life

You will move towards that which God has planned for you,

As you faith is tried and strengthened,

So your faith and hope in God will grow.

From this new life, new thought’s will spring.

These will make you what you are and what you will become.

Then will you realize that you are today

Where your thoughts have brought you,

You will be tomorrow where you thoughts will take you.

Remember, you cannot escape the results of your thoughts.

You will gravitate towards that which you think, dream or envision.

Your life will reflect the exact results of your thoughts.

The Circle of Life

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:22 PM

Some of humanity may look forever it seems......for truth.

Yet truth can lie under their feet;

Yet it may never be seen or felt.

Some people may read the scriptures,

May quote line upon line, word upon word, precept upon precept.

But may never fully grasp the gospel of truth.

They may hold it for a short while;

Then it falls from their hands

The key to the gospel truth’s are four words,

 “Love, trust and hope”

Then when you have proven worthy,

So the final key is given “Faith”

For it was faith that may the blind to see,

The lame to walk, and the dead to rise.

But faith can never exist without love, trust and hope.

And love, trust and hope can never exist without faith.

Love, trust, hope and faith make up the circle of life,

None may exist without the other,

It’s when we hold them close to our heart,

That we learn “Faith proceeds the miracle.”

It’s these five words that will lead

you to feet of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Then you might hear him say

“Be still my child, listen and learn.”

Adversity

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:18 PM

Adversity is like a summer storm,

We are witnesses to the power of nature

with it’s rain, thunder and lighting!

But after the storm the clouds are moved aside by an unseen hand

And the sun begins to shine.

A rainbow appears in the distance sky and gives a promise,

Of the good things that are yet to come.

For does not rain bring forth new life!

So, it is with adversity,

A negative force that seeming beats unmercifully upon us,

Yet this force can be our greatest friend.

Don’t turn away from it, but embrace it and show no fear.

For as we overcome this force in our lives,

So it is that we become stronger!

If we do this with real intent in our heart,

We will be given the keys that will open the door to our real self.

We must pass through our Heavenly Father’s refining fire,

So that our eye’s may be opened

To the silver of our heart and the gold of our soul.

For from this our new life will spring.

Is there know other way, you may ask?

No! After we have been refined in furnace of our

Heavenly Father’s Love, So it is then!

That we might understand the worth of our soul in his eye’s.

Tips for Seniors Traveling Abroad

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:17 PM

The great part of your life should be when you retire, we’ll assume that you have saved well during your working life and now you have all the time in the world to see a great deal of the world! During the six months before you retired you and your wife applied for and received your passports, you had all the medical checks, you have kept yourself in good health, so the big question is where do we go first.

Where ever you decide to travel to, you as seniors should check into what kind of senior travel clubs there are, if any, and where or not they provide any kind of travel or medical insurance. There are a number of such organizations, and all may be found on the internet, such as the International Benefits.com. When you have decided on where it is you would like to visit, you can read about the country and what it has to offer and with the internet you may look up the country and all the surrounding areas using Google Earth, it’s always good practice to find the address to the American Embassy. You may decide to visit the country from where your family originally came from, who knows you may even find relatives to visit. Visiting Europe for instance, it is now possible to visit a great many countries and travel between them without all of the old travel passport requirements.

You are now ready to role, one last item to remember record all the numbers from your passport and your traveler checks, so that if they are lost or stolen you can get replacements. Always remember, that in Europe as in any country there are criminals and con men, beware of them, try never to be too flashy with your money, or any other personnel effects. Bon Voyeur!

The Gambino Family

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:14 PM

When Mario Puzo wrote “The Godfather,” it seemed to strike a cord within the hearts of the American people, without a doubt it glorified organized crime, and some how it seemed to popularize the team “Wiseguy” and has made gangsters as legendary as the old western cowboys. In the New York City area of America, dating from the early 1900’s a crime organization which came to be known as the Mafia (or Cosa Nostra) arose, its tentacles like an octopus penetrated the illicit activities from prostitution, money laundering, murder for hire, wire fraud and even into labor and construction unions, they extend up and down the eastern seaboard and today extends all across American and Canada.

The Gambino family has been involved in the Mafia since it began in America, around the early 1900’s. The founding family member that was involved from the beginning was Carlo Gambino, and he was one of the Boss of Bosses during the 1950’s to the mid 1970’s. Carlo Gambino or Don Carlo started in the family business as a soldier for the Joe Masseria, when he was killed he moved up until Albert Anastasia gave him a job as an under boss. He had a mild personality, and this allowed him to go virtually unnoticed by his peers and he was able to maneuver his way to the top, he arranged with a rival boss Vito Genovese to have Anastasia murdered. He then became head of the Gambino family and eventually head of the five families in New York.

Carlo Gambino took the mafia family business and built it into a worldwide organization, which covers the five boroughs of New York to Atlantic City to Las Vegas to the heroin

Plants and fields of Sicily and Asia. The Gambino family is a multi-Million dollar conglomerate, and worth what a great many corporations are worth.

Retiring Abroad

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:12 PM

The major question in regards to retirement is of course do we have the money. A few retired couples were lucky enough to be able to pay into an IRA, and they may be doubly lucky if the company they worked for, allowed them to pay into a company pension. There has been a program on TV, International House Hunter, what this program has highlighted is the purchase of real estate in a number of countries from Mexico, Central America, South America and a great many countries in Europe.

When people think of retiring to a different country, there is one piece of major advice that should be addressed, that is before you make a major move, i.e., purchase a home etc, it may be advantageous to spend an extended holiday in the place that you feel you would like to retire to. A decision of this magnitude should not be taken lightly, the idea of spending a vacation in a particular country, will allow you to make logical decisions as to whether or not you actually like the local environment, the climate,  the local customs, the people and the services that are offered, such as personal security, access to medical care, what type of real estate you can purchase for your dollar and even look into what happens to any property that you own at you death, can this be past onto your children or a relative at little or no cost.

The last item that should be mentioned, there are a number of sites on the Internet that can advise people as to which country may suit them in there search for a perfect environment in which to retire to.

Being a Great Teacher

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:11 PM

It should be said that no other profession is as important as being a teacher. So, what is the difference between a teacher and a great teacher? The schools of today are filled with people who call themselves teachers; they show a child the mechanics of how to put together words and/or mathematical problems. However, a great teacher would show how words can come alive in books and plays and how the world revolves around words. There is a teacher in LA, Jaime Escalante, he took eighteen high school students and helped then pass the A.P. Calculus exam, he wouldn’t allow the students to be negative, he instilled in them the adventure of numbers.

It may be assumed by some people that we always have to go back into history to find great teachers, but this should not be the case. There are so many great teachers today, they set great examples for the kids in their classes, yet they don’t leave under achieves behind, they encourage and instill in them the adventure for learning whether it is history, or math, or English, a great teacher will never give up on their kids. They have a clear idea of how to make the subjects that they teach come alive, they may take them on day trips to civil war sites or a pioneer trail, they know that this allows a child to not only hear about a subject be actually experience the site where the events took place.

The other part of teaching could come from the spiritual side, which is to say Jesus Christ; he of course is the greatest teacher the world has ever encountered. He taught that sure you can become a genius, but if you do not learn how to develop your spiritual nature, then what have you achieved. The article on teachers could not be completed with mentioning Aristotle or Plato and lastly Socrates these were considered the greatest teachers of all the ages.

Giving to Charity

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:09 PM

Unfortunately there will always be poor people in the world, it has been that way for a thousand generations, and again unfortunately it will be that way as far as humanity is concerned, because the cause of poverty is Humanity. Giving to the less fortunate is mentioned in many parts of the old and new testimonies, it is said that “Charity never fails” it is also said that “Charity is the pure love of Christ.” In our society today the giving to others whether it be money or commodities, people in general do not look down on others for receiving these charitable gifts.

Maybe we as a society have grown up a little and with the economy the way it is, we have come to realize that we are all close to being a recipient of charity. The western type governments have always encouraged their fellow citizens to give, they do this by allowing the people to take a tax deduction for any gifts that they donate to the many charitable organizations that help the less fortunate. It is always safer to be on the side of caution when you make a donation, in our society it is quite easy to check on the validity of an organization, if a charity is legitimate it should be registered, so log on to the internet and type in the name and it should tell you if the charity is legitimate.

When you give to help either a person or an organization, it should make you feel good, because with the world economy being in a depression, who knows if or when you, or a neighbor or someone close may need help, it is good to give, we should teach our children that when someone needs a hand up, that we should not judge but give with an open heart, after all that’s what life is all about.

How to Interpret the Bible Today

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:07 PM

When we study the scriptures, if our intent is to try to interpret the meaning of the words we should understand a great deal of the scriptures are written using symbols to describe events or places. The reason for this is that the Lord in his wisdom knew that over the centuries names and places would off course change, so he prompted the writers to not only use symbols but also give hints as to the meaning of the symbols. If we try to interpret the scriptures without the help of the small still voice (Holy Ghost) that is when we show our lack of understanding of the picture that Heavenly Father puts before us.

The symbolism used in the scriptures is there to help us understand the meaning of a great part of the Bible, for instance a simple symbol given is the fig tree, the meaning of this is always Israel. In Ezekiel 37 v1 -11 the Lord shows Ezekiel the meaning in regards to what he means by raising up the bones from the ground, it symbolizes the return of the Israelites to there land in these latter days (i.e. 1948). Interpreting the symbols in Ezekiel 38 we can receive a little help from Josephus the Roman historian, in his writing he mentions the land of the Scythians, they lived north of the great sea (Black Sea) this is the land of Magog, the people of Gog

The Book of Revelation is full of symbols, lets look at Chapter 8 v 11 the symbol given is a star who name is “Wormwood” and it tells of a third of the waters became bitter and men (women) died, It was not till a nuclear reactor exploded on April 26, 1986 in the Ukraine that people realized that the word “wormwood” when translated into Russian means Chernobyl.

Benefits of Serving Your Country

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:03 PM

America is the greatest nation on the earth, its history is very unique, when a young person attends school they hear about the civil war, they hear about the young men that fought in the first and second world wars, they may hear about Korea or Vietnam, or even the present day wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. All these years of service that there neighbors have given, but until you serve they are just words, JFK said “Ask not what you country can do for you, ask what can I do for my country.”

Never in the history of America has that statement meant more than it does now. The service that you may want to offer may be completed through a church organization, such as happen after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. Many church organizations have such voluntary groups that serve all over the United States, when you give this kind of service you may come to understand what service and sacrifice really means. You may be asked to go to another state where a number of people are needed to help someone rebuild a roof, or build a deck on the house, or any number of services and you may see poverty that you never thought could exist in America. The service that you give may entail helping a senior citizen by taking them to the hospital, or helping a family who lives on food stamps make dinner.

If you give service, you may learn that the greatest gift that someone can give is

Themselves, it is said that “Charity is the pure love of Christ”; if you are attentive, you will learn that this has never been as true as it is today. If you are lucky when you give service to other you may shed tears of sorrow, but it may open up your heart, then you will realize what it means to be an American

The Keys to Aging Well

  • Jun. 15th, 2009 at 7:00 PM

In this world were it seems everyone is searching for eternal youth, a number of older people have found the secret to aging well. In a way it is magic, but the magic that is required lives within the person who’s facial features and body displays a youthful appearance. Aging well does not necessary come from eating well or completing a series of daily exercise, it comes from the inside of a person, it’s attitude, the ability to laugh, the joy of living, the love that a person holds for there married partner and their children. It a combination of all of the above and then some.

A great many people arise from their nights sleep and may say a prayer, “today will be a great day, everything will go well.” then the person looks out of the window and the smile becomes a frown, “Looks like rain, again.” A great many people are learning from the old saying “The world is your oyster.” A story that was told recently about a guy who had always wanted to write a book, well at 96 he has two best sellers, the body may age but if the mind is young it will reflect in the way the person walks and acts.

A great many people move to the coast and take up sailing, they may even put together the Bucket List. Men and women are not just moving to Florida to walk through the mall, waiting to die, they are learning all kinds of new things, the world has changed not just for the young but for all kinds of people. Computer have opened all kinds of new frontiers from building a business on the internet, to taking college courses, it seems as if with the right attitude nothing is stopping the Older person from living and learning something new each and everyday.

Soar with Eagles

  • Jun. 13th, 2009 at 9:20 PM

There is a saying “To change your life, all you have to do is change your mind," It’s unfortunate, but whether you realize it or not, we have been conditioned since our school days to fail, some people might say that's not so, well Government surveys prove this statement, it is a fact that at retirement 67% of the people cannot provide for their own needs, and only 1 or 2 % are independently wealthy.

So it should be assumed that to change the way we think will be an uphill battle. It may be said that the following as singular items may not change your life completely,

  • Talent may not
  • Ambition may not
  • Genius may not
  • Education may not

There is only one-way to change all that you are and the word's that cover all of the contingencies are,

  • Persistence and Determination

When you start on this journey it should be considered a great adventure, because if you are faithful during the next seven days you will discover a great deal about yourself and how the world has tried to catalog you and deposit you into a pigeon hole.

Commencing a journey of this magnitude you will need to make out a very detailed plan, it maybe advantageous to divide it into 7 days or even 14 half days. You decide whatever makes you feel comfortable. However you must remember that this is only the start of the journey on the road to change.

The first day you should write down all of the negative feeling you have and alongside them, make notes as to why you feel that way.  You should remove from your vocabulary words such as "I can't" and any other negative saying’s.

A good saying to remember is

  • It doesn't take courage to be a dreamer, BUT! It does take courage to turn dreams into reality.

Give each day a task sheet and record on their, goals that you wish to achieve. Remember that we are all a sum total of our thoughts, that's really all we are.

A great many people may read or listen to positive thinking material, people some how think there is a magic in this, but the one truth that you must understand as you commence this journey is that the magic to change your life exists already within your heart. The reason for saying this is simple, you would not have commenced this journey were that not a true statement.

The words of any positive thinking books and DVD’s are meant to open up a person’s mind, so… we must take the words that we read or listen to, spiritually and emotionally into our hearts and when we add to that, the strength of the human spirit, this will enable us to soar with eagles.

For this to happen, as I stated at the beginning, you must understand that we have been conditioned to fail, for us to change this believe is going to take more than a couple of weeks or even months. When people realize this they tend to quit, and sometimes that is understandable, given all the negative feed back that we are fed everyday by well meaning friends, family, people we work with or just people that we meet, can you see why you fail.

One more truth that you must come to understand is it’s not your fault, that you may have failed so far in your life’s journey; remember you have been conditioned to fail. I cannot say this enough, unfortunately it is the one truth that you must acknowledge, and if you are to succeed you must then remove this forever from your mind.

This journey of change will sometimes take great courage, think of the journey as a ship loaded with products, does the ship when loaded stay in the harbor, the answer of course is no, it is given a destination that it must sail to. When the captain sets sail does he know what weather he will meet on the journey, again the answer is of course not, yet he has to travel the seas to get to his destination.

So… think of yourself as the ship, you may face rough seas, rain and high winds, but this adversity will not be there everyday, you will also have calm days when the seas are gentle and the winds are light and warm. This is the same as everyone’s life, each and every person must face this type of adversity, remember the strongest tree’s grow on the windy side of the hill.

This negative feedback that you may be given as I have stated usually comes from those closest to you, your family members, or perhaps even your closest friend. But if they do give you this type of feed back, be happy because it means that you are changing, like a proverable caterpillar to a butterfly. These people don’t mean any harm; it’s just that they too have been conditioned to stay within their comfort zone.  Remember it’s safe to do the usually unchallenging things in life

The storm of resistance will only last for a short while, so if you can weather it out, everything will turn out for the good.  This power house that exists within us all is just below the surface. Did you know that 95% of all people do not believe in the power of one, or self?

We have been taught from childhood to believe that we are slaves to an unyielding society.  That’s why it’s important when you read this text or like books or listen to CD’s, you must allow the stories and positive affirmations to witness to your soul, that is because you have within yourself the ability to exalt above the norm.

A great many people may think that all this positive thinking started with books like “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, but this type of teaching has been around for hundred’s of years, in the old Testament it states  “As a man thinks, so shall he be,”   Would it surprise you to realize that William Shakespeare wrote the following,

  • This above all: to thine own self be true, and then it must surely follow: as the night follow the day, thou canst then be false unto no man.

What he is saying is be true to your believes and dreams and don’t quit. Our Heavenly Father, decided the best way to help us become the best that we can be, was to have us work and search for our talents and dreams. It seems that if a person is given something, it tends to lose its value, but when you fight to obtain whatever it is you want, then it has meaning.  I call this “The Refining Fire, “This search for who we are, and the talents that we possess can take a week to a life time.

                                 Adversity

Adversity is like a summer storm,
We are witnesses to the power of nature
with its rain, thunder and lighting!

But after the storm the clouds are moved

                        aside by an unseen hand

And the sun begins to shine.

A rainbow appears in the distant sky

                        and gives a promise,

Of the good things that are yet to come.

For does not rain bring forth new life!

                        So, it is with adversity,

A negative force that seeming beats

                        unmercifully upon us,

Yet this force can be our greatest friend.

Don’t turn away from it, but embrace it

                        and show no fear.

For as we overcome this force in our lives,

So it is that we become stronger!

If we do this with real intent in our heart,

We will be given the keys that will open

the door to our real self.

We must pass through our Heavenly Father’s

                        refining fire,

So that our eye’s may be opened

To the silver of our heart and the gold of our  soul.

For from this our new life will spring.

Is there no other way, you may ask?

No!  After we have been refined in furnace of our

Heavenly Father’s Love, so it is then!

That we might understand the worth of

                        our soul in his eye’s.

                                                                            Michael Beirens©

There is no set time, but as we travel along this road of self discovery, be very attentive and you will grow in so many ways and most importantly, you will discover an inner strength that will stay with you all your life.

The next stage in your journey is to start to keep a journal to record the changes in your life. This can be done on a daily or weekly basis. Just record what you.... believe to be important things or changes in your life. Whether you record failures or success, these will give you the strength and the ability to handle whatever life hands you. These changes if you are faithful… will come, and you may be surprised at how fast they occur...

The key to growth for many people, as I have stated may be the reading of self help books or listening to CD’s. But reading or listening alone will not improve anyone’s lot in life. You must internalize that which has been written or recorded, both emotionally and spiritually and then act upon those convictions.

To illustrate this point lets look at the following:

You have a great love for gardening; first you would clear the lot and then cultivate the soil. Next, water the area where you intend to plant your crop. The final raking and you are now ready to plant your seeds.  The seeds are planted as per the instructions, each and every day you water the new seeds, remove the weeds and take care of your garden.  Given time and love you will reap a bountiful harvest.

  • Question: if you would take such great care of your garden, why would you not take the same care of the garden within your mind? The mind dictates life’s circumstance, you are not a victim of society, unless you wish to be, but you are the end product of your mind.  It will reflect the same. Therefore feed it and water it with positive thoughts and actions. Give it things of beauty and you will grow and blossom like your garden.

A great many people do not understand the following.  “Nothing exists in our world that humankind made, that was not first an impulse of thought.” This saying is attributed to Thomas Edison.

Therefore it must follow, that the mind dictates your and my life circumstances. As long as we live in a free society we are not victims of that society.  But we are an end product of our thoughts.

Life’s Traveler

As you think and travel through life,

         You will gain experiences.

These will make you what you are, and what you will become.

You are today, where your thoughts have brought you.

Where you will be tomorrow is where your thoughts will take you.

You cannot escape the results of your thoughts,

You will move towards that, which you think,

Dream or envision, whether beautiful or base.

Your reflection that you and other see,

Comes from the results of your thoughts

Whatever your present circumstances may be,

You will rise or fall on the sum total of your thoughts.

                                                                           Michael Beirens©

We need to not only understand the concept, that what we feed our minds, so will we become, but we need to be responsible to that concept. If you feed your mind alcohol in excess and drugs, your life’s circumstance will reflect that image. Therefore you need to feed it positive affirmations and things of beauty, and again your mind will then instruct your body to reflect the same.

The three and half pounds that we call a brain is the ultimate governing body within the human kingdom. Nothing as yet has risen to take its place. The mind then will dictate the terms under which you and I live. There’s an expression

  • Why walk with turkeys when you can soar with Eagles.

Hence the name of this text

 Soar with Eagles.

Let me give a further illustration, it all started with an egg:

A farmer found an egg on the side of the road, well he had quite a few chickens, so he took the egg home and placed it in the nest box of a hen. The hen accepted the egg and after a while it hatched, she cared for it, although it didn’t look like the other chicks. When it was fully grown a man called on the farmer and looking at the hens he informed the farmer that the big bird was in fact an eagle. The man said that he would prove it to the farmer, so he placed the eagle on the roof top and said fly, it didn’t. He apologized to the farmer and left, the farmer thought about this strange looking chicken and decided that he would take to the next valley where eagles and hawks fly.  He placed the eagle in a tree and waited, soon a large eagle came down and sat on the next branch, and then it started to cry to the bird, it returned the cried and suddenly they both flew away.

The moral behind the story is this, when you mix with the chickens and turkeys in society, how can you fly with Eagles.

As I have stated you have embarked upon a new journey, you are removing the egg shell that has kept you within your comfort zone, so expect discouragement.

What you are searching for in this text or like books can only show you the way, it cannot do the work that is required. There are many words that describe the way to achieve your goals.

The power that lies within each of use goes by many names. I call it “that something” or you might call it “The magic that is you”.  As you learn to be faithful in your search, so it is that your life will open up new roads for you to explore and it will be “that something” that will give the power to succeed.

As you travel along this new road, road blocks will spring up.  If they do.... then that’s a good sign, it means that you are emerging from your comfort zone. Remember you would not have chosen this new pathway unless you have the capabilities to over come the obstacles that are before you. This way of thinking was stated by Ralph Waldo Emerson

  • If a person has a desire in their heart then the achievement

Of that desire is within the constitution of the person that

feels that desire. In other word you would not have the

desire were you not capable of bringing that desire to reality.

                                                                                Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are two great lessons that you will also learn on this road to discovery.  One is called

  • Self Mastery and the other is Persistence.

I have probably blown a few fuses at the early stage.  You probably thought that there was some magic pill, an easy way to achieve your goals. But as I have stated and will state many times the magic to achieve your dreams, lies within you, all you have to do is tap that magic and I guarantee that it will come alive. This magic that is you will take to the stars, just have faith and believe in yourself

I enjoy writing poems, some times the words to explain something come easier and also they may be easier to understand what a person is trying to say. I wrote “Yourself,” because it explains in simple terms, what we must try to accomplish on this journey that we have undertaken;

                                                         Yourself

A sense of direction and purpose needs to be instilled in

Our hearts as we rush along Life’s highway.

Where is it we are going,

We need to take time to reflect on the road

that we have chosen to travel.

This reflection is the key to self-discovery.

The art of living life to its fullest is to be a peace

with oneself and all humankind.

We must learn how to be still and silent, then we can begin

the search for that spiritual tranquility

 that lies within our soul.

Life will teach us much if we are attentive,

When we have obtained this rest and peace within our heart.

If we have learnt it well!

Our Heavenly Father may call us to help others along life’s highway.

Be gracious with your neighbor for we are all children

Of a loving heavenly Father.

Keep peace in your soul as you mix with all humanity,

Be a good listener for all people have their story.

If you listen with a pure heart who knows what you may learn.

Do not judge, just be a friend, live each day with care

and share with all the greatest gift that you have

Yourself.

                                                                             Michael Beirens©

If you have come this far in reading, it must mean that you are committed to taking this journey and casting off the comfort zone egg shell that has protected you thus far in your life’s journey.

There are two points that I would like to discuss, the first point that I would like to mention and reinforce as you move along the road on this journey of self discovery is that your life if lived to its fullest will reflect   “A great adventure story.”  The other is the secrets of living a successful life can be written on a single sheet of paper. It is when we become pompous and arrogant, and show our ignorance by trying to rewrite the basic principles of life, that’s when it takes’s on unneeded burdens.

In walking along the roads that criss cross our paths in life, we should always be searching for those things that give us happiness. We should understand that there are many things in life that are free.  Generally we fail to recognize them because of our daily run of the race, with all its hustle and bustle.

There are a great many things that we are blessed with, and which we seem to take for granted. Perhaps it’s a child’s laughter, a hug or touch from a loved one, or maybe just to pat oneself on the back when we truly deserve it. It is these free gifts that help us fulfill our true potential to be the best that we are meant to be.

It may be at this stage in your journey that your family and friends have noticed that you are committed to achieving your goals and seeing your dreams become a reality. Your self confidence and your talents will give you strength to reach for the sky.  We should never place limits on our imagination and dreams, for these are the things that give our hearts and minds freedom, to soar beyond the boundaries of the world we live in.  These gifts are free. There is no charge or tax and we will never be billed later for taking advantage of them.

Let’s look at who we really are, and then reflect upon what you may, if you think deep enough about it, consider it to be the greatest miracle!  So, let me ask you.  “What would you conclude is the greatest miracle?”  To me the answer is quite simple. It is the conception and forming of a child within a mother womb.

At conception one cell, at birth some hundred’s of millions of cells, each cell with a specific job to do. At birth, we weigh in at between four to ten pounds. We are naked, either boy or girl and completely helpless, we cannot walk, talk or communicate, except maybe cry when we are hungry or need our diaper changed.  From the first breath each of us embarks upon an incredible journey, which will be known as our life story.

It is the physical, emotional and spiritual growth that occurs within humanity, as we commence this journey that will make us all different. This similarity that at birth was a constant now drifts into the sunset.  What arises at sunrise, this is where the dramatic changes start, and this growth continues from birth until death.

You might add that it was different for me, my mother didn’t like me, and my Dad beat me. Doesn’t matter you still are who you are and you can become whatever it is that you wish to become. Nothing can stand in the way of the human spirit.

Let’s take an extreme example, you are born, you can see, hear and talk and run around just like many young children, however at about three years old you are kidnapped by Aliens.  You go to a far off planet. You cannot talk, you cannot see, you cannot hear. You can feel people touch you, but that’s as far as it goes.  What would you do?  You feel others put food in your hands or water, so you can eat and drink.

One day someone holds your hand and leads you away from the crowds that were always touching you.  This person that was placed in this predicament was Helen Keller; the person who led her away from the crowd was Annie Sullivan.  She never was able to hear or see, but she did learn to identify objects and she did learn to speak.

She spoke before the United Nations in New York. How many of the same ailments have you and me.  Probably not one, yet we complain that we are victims to an unyielding society.

Helen Keller is an extreme example of being handicapped, and also an extreme example of the power of the human spirit. “That something” that lies beneath the surface is the most powerful spiritual force that is in the world today. If you could bottle it and sell it you would be the richest person in the world. You may not be able to bottle it, but you can learn to use it within the confines of your own life.

You and I has been given in various amount a most precious substance, and we have been given it in trust, we can use it or abuse it, You may ask what is this substance, why it’s  “Time” we as individuals can waste this gift. Remember you do not know how much time you have to spend in mortality. Time should be spent developing the human spirit, and searching for and developing your talents so that you may grow into the person that you want to become.

You are unique; to prove how unique you are, let’s put it to the test.  Hold up and look at your thumb, it has a print; the FBI has proven that no two prints are alike.  Yet look at the world five or six billion people and only you have your distinct thumb print. You are a unique individual, never before and never again will someone with your talents and particular personality traits ever come into the world.

Therefore why do you not believe that there is something special for you to do in this world?  What is the greatest lesson that you can teach, “Why it’s to love?”  The whole world right now is crying out for someone to once again teach the world how to love. People, who learn to love, laugh longer, live longer and smile easier, and usually have a wonderful balanced personality. If your only gift to the world is to teach you children how to love, what greater gift can you leave?

                          Time

As children of God the Eternal Father,

We are given in various amounts the greatest of gifts;

We are told “to everything there is a season,

A time to every purpose under heaven”.

We may squander this..... The most precious of all gifts,

Or we may invest in our future.  This is our choice.

In the calendar of life, there are two days over

Which we have no control;

These are the two days over which we should not worry.

And which should be kept free from remorse,

Fear and apprehension.

One is yesterday; it is history, with all of its joys and faults.

Remorse for something we did yesterday or

The fear of tomorrow,

These are two eternities that place within our minds

Untold misery, fear and remorse.

Look around and you will notice how a great many people

Pray for a better tomorrow when they have forgotten

That they need to live for today!

Today is a great gift that’s why it is called.

“The Present”

                                                                           Michael Beirens©

The contents of this text should remind us that we are only bound by the restrictions we place upon ourselves. If you have been faithful in writing down your dreams, then each and everyday you have read them quietly to yourself, that is part of the exercise, that way the words or dreams that you have written down become second nature, and you mind, just begins to accept them as fact. Let me reinforce one very important point, never share your dreams and visions with anyone, except maybe your wife or husband.

There is a very good reason for this, they may take away some of your thunder, remember Peter Pan, he told Wendy and her brothers, you can only fly when you have good thoughts in your mind, your dreams and visions are your good thoughts. When you are playing poker they say keep the cards close to your chest, do the same with your dreams and visions.

As time passes if you are faithful, you will start to see the benefits that you have brought about in your life and sometimes in other peoples lives, I write texts like to this to try to inspire all who read and work at changing there lives, its not easy, but I can promise you as you experience an awakening, you learn to laugh, to love, to trust, to hope and dream and at some point you will stand up and cheer and yell with all your heart.  Remember its you and hopefully your belief in Heavenly Father that has brought about this change.

If you have read thus far, you will have learned I hope, that when you search diligently and with full purpose of heart you can find the hidden talents and you can develop the many abilities that you possess.  Someone may ask how did you achieve your dreams, you may be able to share with them, the actions that you took, and also tell them, that you have learned one great secret and that is, if you try to achieve your dreams in a half hearted manner then they are not only lying to themselves but they are also cheating themselves.

All of the reading and writing of your dreams are like the seeds that you plant in your garden; only the garden we are now talking about is the garden of the mind.  This three to three and half pounds of muscle allows us to function in this mortal existence.  It is said by science to contain between twenty to thirty billion cells, each cell can assimilate one million bytes of information per second. I am sure that you will agree it makes a computer look like a cheap calculator in comparison.

Remember I said treat your mind like a garden and only plant good seeds in this fertile part of the human anatomy. I hope that after reading this you will have come to one conclusion, you have to love yourself, and that is the greatest truth of all time.

Keeping Young Adults Fit

Keeping Young Adults Fit
Client would like article to be about keeping young adults fit.

Obesity is becoming an international disease and many countries realize that something has to be done to alleviate this problem. Unfortunately the term coach potato is being seen at a younger age than in the past.  There are a number of reasons for this, one being, young people are watching more and more TV, the other is that a great many teenagers are using the computer and they play video games for hours. The end result is that less and less time is given over to recreational sports for a great percentage of children, not everyone wants to be a school jock.

There are a great many ways that this problem can be changed for the better, and many communities are contributing to the solution. One organization is Wellspring Fit Clubs they offer an opportunity for the whole family to become involved in helping not only there own children learn about losing weight and learn about the results that lack of exercise and obesity can cause, but they the parents are also learning about fitness and weight control. It is being found that once young people immerse themselves in this type of program with their family’s all member benefit.  Various government and university study programs have found that spending tax dollars within the schools from Elementary level to High School,  will pay back in the coming years because our children will not grow up to be obese but will have a greater understanding not only about exercise but also about nutrition.

These types of school programs are in their infancy but as more and more tax dollars are spent within the school system, so society will be awakened to the undisturbed fact that nutrition and exercise go hand in hand with giving us healthy children.
